Our client was a police officer who was ambushed and shot in the chest and hip while responding to a call. His employer, Henry County, refused to pay his lost wages resulting from his injuries.

Attorney Elliot Bourne was quoted in the story as saying, “They don’t have to fight this case, they could just say ‘we are going to take care of this injured officer who bled for us and put his life on the line.’ But instead, they said, ‘we are going to try and save money, and force you to go to court and prove your case.”

We are happy to announce that we did win in court. In January of 2023, the Appellate Division of the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation held that the County was responsible for paying our client’s lost wages. We continue to proudly serve police officers and other public servants who are injured in the line of duty. If you or a loved one has been injured on the job, contact Bourne Law Firm today to discuss your case with an experienced workers’ compensation attorney.
